Our process · why our floors last

How a GlossWorks job actually runs.

Most floors that fail didn’t fail because of the product — they failed because of prep. Here’s the method we’ve refined over 17 years of Saskatchewan slabs, whether your floor is coated, polished, repaired, or restored.

Why prep matters

Why don’t our floors fail? Because we diamond-grind the slab, test for moisture, and repair every crack before any finish goes down — coating, polish, Flexstone, or restoration. Failure is almost always a prep shortcut, so prep is exactly where we don’t take one.

Steps 1–3 · the foundation

Every floor starts the same way.

01

Assess & moisture-test

We evaluate the slab and run a moisture-vapor (MVB) test. High moisture gets a vapor-barrier primer — skipping this is a top cause of failed floors.

02

Diamond grinding

We mechanically diamond-grind the surface to bare, open concrete. This — not acid etching, not a quick scuff — is what every finish needs to truly bond or polish up.

03

Crack & joint repair

Cracks, spalls, pits, and control joints are repaired and filled so the finished floor is flush, sound, and free of weak points.

Step 4 · the install

Then it’s built for your floor.

The prep is universal; the finish isn’t. Step four is where the same sound, clean slab becomes whichever floor you hired us for.

No heavy coating — the concrete itself is the finish, sealed with a polish guard that maximizes stain resistance.

05

Walk-through & guarantee

We walk the finished floor with you, touch up anything that needs it, and stand behind the work in writing.

Forever Floor

The optional step that never ends: for a set yearly rate we inspect, clean, and recoat as needed — keeping your floor looking the way it did the day we left.

Almost always a prep failure — the slab wasn’t diamond-ground to bare concrete, moisture wasn’t tested, or a coating went over a sealed or damp floor. Proper mechanical prep is what prevents peeling.
